This is a blog about wine. It's also about the people behind the wine, those who enjoy wine, our habits and the ritual of wine.
My mission? Challenge yourself. Change preconceptions. Blur the lines. Drinking wine is an adventure, a casual adventure. Join me on my journey as I explore, learn, poke fun, challenge wine snobbery and also myself. In the process, I hope to bring a smile to your face, share wonderous new discoveries and ultimately, to encourage you along your own journey of chasing wine.
And sometimes this blog is not about wine at all. The only rule I apply? To be drinking a glass while writing!
Oh, and some people featured will remain anonymous for their own good.
Musing about all things wine from Theo's blog "Chasing Wine". Join the journey of exploration, of challenge and of wonderous new discoveries.
This (somewhat deliberately controversial) statement raised a few eyebrows at a recent wine tasting. Fact is, a trip to Burgundy some years ago left me unimpressed with the wines though moved by an extraordinary cellar and tasting experience. As always with wine, I have recently had to challenge my own prejudice. South African wine makers are creating fascinating Pinot Noirs worth exploring, especially as summer approaches. Sometimes all it takes is to keep trying previously dismissed options!
It's Women's month, and what better opportunity to celebrate women in the wine industry, which remains male dominated. The ladies who are tackling the industry are making a rather big splash, innovating and breaking new ground. Join me as I explore the illusive and hard to decribe feminine touch found in recent tastings, feature two inriguing ladies and their wines, and once again tackle the issue of preconceived notions when deciding what to drink!
Wine is serious business. Wine can be so bloody intimidating! But the pomp and ceremony can most definitely serve to discourage, even ruin friendships, and what good is that? Join me for a lighthearted look at wine "enjoyment" as I share some of the most valuable lessons I've learnt on my wine journey to date.
